At a recent meeting, club members learned how each of us can make simple choices to help keep our community cleaner and more beautiful while feeding more people, creating green jobs, and saving money.
Pat McLaughlin and John Walsh from King County’s Solid Waste Division outlined how we can extend the life of the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill to delay/minimize the creation of similar sites. For example, we can reduce the amount of material that we send to that facility by 70% if we remove all recyclable items from our trash.
Our Sammamish Committee of the Kiwanis Club of Issaquah organizes a monthly work party at Kidvantage sorting & organizing clothes and toys for kids in need throughout King County on the 3rd Monday
of each month (except December).
