This committee maintains and grows club membership by conducting evening “Firesides,” summer celebrations of volunteers (the Spirit of Issaquah), and other outreach activities. Members of this committee meet and invite friends, associates, and community members to join the club; provide orientation sessions for interested individuals; and promote membership benefits through printed and other materials. The committee reviews membership applications and recommends applicants to the board of directors. After the board votes an individual into membership, this committee arranges for induction, pairs the individual with a sponsor or “buddy,” and ensures that the new member has joined a committee or otherwise participates in club activities.
This committee also helps retain members by recognizing the volunteer efforts and contributions of others and making personal connections with those who are absent from several club activities or those members who have health or other issues. From time to time, this committee may conduct satisfaction surveys or small focus groups to learn how to improve club activities and interactions.
